Development Partners’ Engagement in SEZs Vital for Progress, Says IPDC DCEO
The involvement of development partners in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) is crucial for achieving shared development objectives, according to Kamil Ibrahim, Deputy CEO of the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC).
Kamil made this statement during a discussion with Daan Wensing, CEO of the Netherlands-based development organization IDH, about the development works accomplished in SEZ in the past four years.
He highlighted IDH’s significant contributions in areas such as environmental protection, creating a conducive work environment, and improving power utilization systems within the SEZs managed by IPDC.
The DCEO praised IDH's support in helping IPDC transition towards becoming an eco-industrial park.
In response, Daan Wensing shared that IDH has been focused on the apparel and garment sectors within SEZs over the past four years. Going forward, IDH plans to broaden its focus to include agro-processing SEZs as well.
Wensing also took the opportunity to visit IDH's ongoing projects in the Bole Lemi Special Economic Zones.
