Companies from Kunshan province ready to built an industrial park in Dire Dawa


Dire Dawa, July, 2019, business delegation led by Mayor of kunshan province Mr.Zu Yu Dong visited Dire Dawa city and the Mayor said that companies are ready to built a private textile Industrial Park with a half million dollar in Dire Dawa, the construction of the industry park will be completed within two years and create a job opportunity for many people.

It is a good opportunity to promote Dire Dawa city, attract FDI, create jobs, transfer knowledge and technology and the city administration is ready by any means to support the companies to build the Industry Park, said with the rank of Deputy Mayer of Dire Dawa city administration and Director of Trade, industry and investment bureau.

Hong Kong-Based Hop Lun Takes over Entire Factory Sheds at Bahir Dar Industrial Park


Understanding (MoU) with the Ethiopia Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) to take over the entire factory sheds at Bahir Dar industrial park.

Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, Lelise Neme, and head of the Amhara regional state industry and investment bureau with the rank of Deputy Chief Administrator, Melaku Alebel, oversaw the signing of the MoU in Bahir Dar.

Melaku on the occasion said that the industrial park, which rested on 75 hectares of land, is currently 93.7 percent complete. It will be readied for service within a month. The industrial park has 8 sheds for Apparel and Garment manufacturing.

Lelise for her part said that the Bahir Dar industrial park is one of the seven parks that will enter into production soon.

The Bahir Dar industrial park, which is dedicated to Apparel and Garment manufacturing, is expected to create 13,000 jobs when it starts production with full capacity. In the first phase, it will create jobs for 6,000 people.

Construction of the second and third phases of the Bahir Dar industrial park will be carried out on 2,000 hectares of land, it was noted.

Established in 1992, Hop Lun is the leading international fashion lingerie and swimwear company.

 Investment and promotion training conducted


The training was organized by Industrial Parks operation and management division in collaboration with Kunshan Economic and Technology Development (KETD) from June 28 to July 06/07 2019 (ten days) at Dire Dawa city. Objective of the training was to build the capacity of staffs of industrial parks operation and management to provide effective and efficient service for the investors.

The training started by the opening speech of Ms Lelise Neme Industrial parks Development Corporation CEO and Mr Zu Yudong Mayor of kunshan province. It was a good opportunity to share experiences and to transfer knowledge and technology between the two countries, said Lelise Neme CEO of Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC).

A total of 27 trainees from Industrial Parks Development Corporation (head office), Hawassa Industrial Park, Mekelle Industrial Park, Kombolcha Industrial Park, Adama Industrial Park, Dire Dawa Industrial Park and Bole Lemi Industrial Park and city administration representatives of Mekelle, Kombolcha, Adama, Dire Dawa and Dibre Birhan participated in the 10 days training which is held in Diredawa city. Finally, trainees visited Dire Dawa Industrial Park and plant trees within the Industrial park.

 Industrial Parks Development Corporation Creates Over 50,000 Jobs


Addis Ababa, July 4, 2019 (FBC) – The Ethiopia Industrial Parks Development Corporation announced that it has created permanent employment for more than 50,000 people.

More than 39,000 temporary employment opportunities were also created, said Lelise Neme CEO of Ethiopia Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC), during a performance review today.

Shed rental and service selling have generated 316 million birr and exports $110 million, more than 100% increase compared to the preceding year, she said.

Lack of water, electric power, and housing for employees were mentioned as the key challenges for new industrial parks.

In order to address these challenges, works are underway to drill boreholes and use alternative sources of energy. Manufacturing companies are also building houses for their employees, Lelise said.

A total of 30 Fire fighter employees for Adama Industrial Park and Dire Dawa Industrial Park graduated in May 2019 after successive 3 month training at Fire and Emergency prevention and Rescue Authority.
